Demon Media 魔鬼媒体成员

Team Member

Demon Media is a media group affiliated with De Montfort Student’s Union. It acts as a mouthpiece for student views, opinions and interests. It consists of Demon FM, Demon TV and the Demon Newspaper. 

I worked within Demon TV, mainly within the pre-production and production stages. This involved planning new shows, scripting, casting, storyboarding, filming, lighting, and controlling sound and director roles.

Key skills that I learnt from working within Demon Media include time management, as I was working here alongside continuing my university studies, teamwork, strong organisational skills and the ability to foresee problems and create possible solutions through careful planning.

The Railway Diner is a Chinese Takeaway. While working here I had several roles including the responsibility of operating the cash register and cash handling; providing a high level of customer service and dealing with telephone orders and enquiries.

Key Skills I gained from working here include excellent customer service and communication skills, strong interpersonal skills from dealing with customers, ability to work as part of a team and time managements skills.

Volunteer at a Disability School

Sandleford is a school for children with learning difficulties. I volunteered to help assist as part of a community outreach program. I helped in a classroom of children aged between 16 – 19 year olds. Duties that I had were to help encourage the students to participate in games and activities; supervise them during reading and writing activities and to generally assist the teacher. 

Skills that I gained while volunteering include patience as there were students less capable than others; the ability to communicate well with those who have learning disabilities and I was able to witness different teaching methods used. I volunteered here during term time while still at school so my time management and organisation skills also improved.

Youth Leader

The youth group was for children between the ages of 10 – 18 years old.

Responsibilities and duties that I had when volunteering as a youth leader were to assist with the organisation of games and activities and to ensure the safety of the children.

Key Skills I gained were improved team working skills and the ability to communicate well with children and to maintain control over the activities and games.
