2000 2002 I worked as a full-time waiter at the Queens Hotel, a four-star restaurant situated in
London (England) during the summer. My main duties included taking orders, answering
customer queries, setting tables and keeping the coffee shop clean and tidy.
2002 2003 I worked as a French tutor for a teenage student struggling with the language for 6
months (1 hour per week). León (Spain).
2003 2008 I worked as a cultural liaison for groups of Spanish secondary-school English language
students attending the Summer Activity Program at Wallace College in Edinburgh
(Scotland). I served as a tour guide and language tutor, amongst other tasks, in order to
facilitate the students immersion in the Scottish culture.
2003 2008 I worked as an English teacher at the English Language Institute in León (Spain) in the
afternoons, whilst studying at the University of León (Spain). Along these years, I became
widely experienced at teaching English. I was in charge of courses for children, teenagers
and adults: intensive courses; English for specific purposes; reading comprehension
courses, etc.
2005 2006 I worked as a Spanish tutor for two university students struggling with the language for 3
months (2 hours per week), whilst studying at the University of Stirling (Scotland).
2006 2010 I worked as an English tutor for teenage students struggling with the language for 6
months (1 student per year, 1 hour per week). León (Spain).
2011 2012 I worked as a Foreign Language Assistant for the Spanish Department at the College of
the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA (USA). My responsibilities included not only giving Spanish
conversation classes in the elementary, intermediate and advanced levels, but also
assisting students outside of class during my office hours. These meetings supplemented
the course material, exclusively for Medical Spanish, Introduction to Literary Genres,
Modern Spanish Drama, and Medieval Spanish Literature. Additionally, I helped to
organize and lead the Spanish Club.
2012 2013 I worked as a Spanish Lecturer for the Spanish Department at the University of Xiangtan in
Hunan (China). My responsibilities included leading weekly Spanish conversation classes
in the elementary, intermediate and advanced levels, and assisting students outside of
class during my office hours. Additionally, I led other cultural activities at the University, in
order to accomplish the mutual understanding and respect between the Chinese
students and students of other countries.
2012 2013 I worked as an English tutor for three teenage students struggling with the language (6
hours per week; 2 hours with each student). Xiangtan (China).
2009 2013 I have been working as an English and French teacher at the Institute of International
Education in Madrid (Spain) during the summer. While working with this school, I design
classes to fit the level of the students, prepare and correct exams, and provide each class
their own set of language challenges.
2003 2008 I obtained a Bachelors degree in English Studies at the University of León (Spain). Relevant
coursework included: General Linguistics, Translation, English Grammar, English Phonetics, and
British, American and Canadian Literature. I spent my third year (2005-2006) studying at the
University of Stirling (Scotland), as part of the ERASMUS exchange program.
2008 2009 I obtained the Pedagogical Aptitude Certificate (C.A.P.) at the University of León (Spain) after
having successfully completed a six-month teacher-training course. Relevant coursework
included: Adolescent Learning and Development, Attention to Diversity and Special Educative
Needs, Teaching in Secondary Schools, and Contemporary Problems in Secondary Education.
2008 2010 I obtained a Diploma of Advanced Studies and Investigating Sufficiency (D.E.A.) at the University
of León (Spain) after the successful completion of a two-year postgraduate degree in
Interculturality and Translation, and the presentation and defense of a research project. Relevant
coursework included: Research Procedures in Translation-Oriented English-Spanish Contrastive
Analysis, Research Processes and Procedures in Translation Studies, Research Procedures in
Comparative Literature and Reception, and Linguistic Identity and European Culture.
2008 2011 I obtained a Bachelors degree in Spanish Studies at the University of León (Spain). Relevant
coursework included: Dialectology, Sociolinguistics, Spanish Grammar, History of the Spanish
Language, Procedures in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, and Spanish and Latin-
American Literature.
2011 2012 I enrolled as a full-time visiting international student at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester,
MA (USA), where I also worked as a Spanish Foreign Language Assistant. In addition, as part of the
cultural exchange, I took two courses per semester at Holy Cross and attended a mandatory
pedagogical workshop that offered 25 hours of practical pedagogical instruction.
2012 2013 I enrolled as a full-time visiting international student at the University of Xiangtan in Hunan (China),
where I also worked as a Spanish Lecturer. As part of the cultural exchange, I took courses on
Chinese, which promoted not only my knowledge of Chinese language and culture, but also
better understanding of the country and its people.
03/03/08 03/10/08 I took part in an exchange program between the Department of Modern Philology at the
University of León (Spain) and the Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies at
Barnard College in New York City (USA).
04/23/09 04/25/09 I took part in the organization of the International Research Workshop entitled
Researching Computer Mediated Communication in Foreign Language Education: Issues
and Methods. This workshop was organized by the European Association for Computer
Assisted Language Learning in coordination with the Department of Modern Philology at
the University of León (Spain), and in attendance were 75 researches and lectures from 15
different countries.
2003 2008 Grants from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture (M.E.C.), in order to pursue my
studies in English at the University of León (Spain).

07/30/03 08/27/03 I was awarded a grant by the Spanish M.E.C. to carry out an English course at the West
Cheshire College in Chester (England).
09/10/05 05/12/06 I took part of the ERASMUS exchange program at the University of Stirling (Scotland),
funded by a grant from the University of León (Spain).
07/02/07 07/20/07 I was awarded a grant by the Spanish M.E.C. to carry out an English course at the EAC
Hastings Language School in Hastings (England).
