Before and during my Ph.D. studies, I taught different age groups on a wide array of subjects in the
United States (1989-1990, 1995-2001)
o Taught undergraduates at the University of California, Berkeley Environmental Anthropology,
Contemporary Asian Societies, and Technology & Society.
o Awarded Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Prize for Teaching Asian Studies 101: Contemporary
Asian Societies at U.C. Berkeley.
o Taught Strategy and Skills for Kaplan’s GRE Preparation Courses for 22-40 year-old students applying for
Masters degrees. Subjects included Reading Comprehension, advanced Algebra, Formal Logic,
Vocabulary-building Techniques, and Standardized Test-taking Skills in Berkeley, California.
o Co-founded Oberlin College’s Environmental Education Practicum, co-created Curriculum, and Taught
children from 10-12 years old in Oberlin, Ohio.
o Assistant and Substitute Teacher at Montessori school in Berkeley, California for 6-10 year old students.
o Tutored and advised students working on their Honor’s thesis in Asian Studies at University of California
