Relevant Work Experience

Full-time first grade English teacher: April 2012 – present

I currently teach two English classes Monday through Friday; 8:30-11:30 is spent with my morning class while I teach from 2:30-4:30 in the afternoon. Class size varies between 20-30 students. Needless to say I’m comfortable teaching large groups. As previously stated, I’m responsible for creating lesson plans, activities, and evaluations for each class. I’ve also become very comfortable managing classes in Chinese due to the fact that I rarely have an English speaking teaching assistant. Additionally, I stay after school once a month during regularly scheduled open houses to go over any questions parents might have about class content or to discuss the childrens’ progress. Lastly, my duties as a teacher also expand into the artistic realm; this includes decorating classroom English boards corresponding with the monthly theme as well as creating and rehearsing three performances per year for each class – a process that involves building stage props and making costumes.

Senior Teacher: October 2013 – July 2014

I take pride in my ability to listen to my co-workers’ needs while creating a comfortable and productive work environment. As training new teachers has been a big part of my job, I can assure a potential employer that I am fully capable of training well-informed and productive teachers. I’ve been with the same company for two and half years now, which should attest to my loyalty as well as my employer’s recognition of my abilities as a team leader.

English classes for Chinese staff:  April 2013 – December 2013
During lunch break once a week, I participate in delivering English lessons to the Chinese administration and teachers.
