Work Crews Instructor
I was a Work Crew Instructor at an agency that served adult persons with disabilities. First, I would supervise the safe arrival of approximately thirty clients to our agency .Secondly, I would conduct educational and life skills enrichment classes with them. Thirdly, I would decide which clients would be best suited to the work at the three to four various jobsites for that day. Fourthly, I would transport a crew of about twelve clients safely to the chosen jobsite. Once at the jobsite, I would train, instruct, make necessary adjustments for optimal physical work environment ergonomics, do quality control and generally supervise the crew at various jobsites throughout Indianapolis. At the end of the day I would make sure all of the tasks, quotas and duties of our contract with the particular jobsites were correctly completed. Then, I would make sure the clients were safely transported back to the agency. Back at the agency, I would then teach and conduct more educational and life skills enrichment classes. Lastly, make sure that the clients were picked up safely by their caretakers. In addition, I had case worker duties with a caseload of six to seven clients. The case worker duties involved arranging , participating and conducting meetings with other caretakers in the field, setting goals for the client, discussing medicine changes, progress on work performance and duties of the client, setting wage rates, behavior plans, etc. The third major area of my duties as a Work Crew Instructor was filing and computer work. I had to maintain all of the files of the six-seven clients on my caseload, enter in all of their hours of pay each week, make sure they had all appropriate health and safety skills training, and do monthly reports on their overall job performance and progression.
