Feb 2012 - Present

I joined the team at English First in 2012 as an English teacher. After my first year I was promoted to senior teacher, and in 2013 I was promoted again to Director of Studies. As DoS, I have done the following:

• Trained new teachers (one-to-one and group training)

• Given regular workshops

• Given formal observations and feedback

• Motivated and managed a team of 12 full-time foreign teachers

• Implemented new school initiatives as part of a team

• Worked together with foreign and local staff to ensure the smooth running of operations

• Designed peak-season courses (winter/summer school)

• Liaised with recruiters and interviewed new foreign teachers 

• Taught 14 hours a week to young learners and teens

October 2010 - December 2011

The change from teaching mixed-nationality adults, to a mono-lingual classes of children was a big change. In Vietnam I developed my skills as a teacher both of adults and young learners. I was happy in Vietnam, both with the school and the country. I wanted to see China, so I decided to move once more.

March 2010 - October 2010

After completing my CELTA, I started teaching English as a second language in my hometown of Brighton, England. Here I taught general English to a multi-lingual class of adults and provided IWB training. After the summer, I wanted to travel and experience teaching abroad, so I moved to Vietnam for a year.
