Employment History:

Travel Writer/Editor, The Waterfront (Newspaper). (March 2010 – June 2011)

As the editor of the travel section of The Waterfront Newspaper, I was in charge of a team of writers, and had to ensure that the standard of writing in the articles was up to a high enough quality to be published. As a published writer, it is necessary to have excellent English language skills.

English Teacher, New Dynamic Institute. (November 2011 – November 2012)

I taught English at the New Dynamic Institute in Zhengzhou for one year. During that time I accumulated a lot of teaching experience. At NDI I was expected to teach classes ranging from one on one VIP classes to English Corners with up to 100 people in attendance. For most of these classes I was expected to prepare my own teaching materials and lesson ideas, as such I now have a huge bank of lesson plans for various types of students. I was also tasked with training students for IELTS, TOEFL and BEC exams.

English Teacher, Lanzhou Li Yang Crazy English (Mid Autumn Festival 2012)

I taught at Li Yang Crazy English's Lanzhou training camp. I was responsible for teaching around 200 students pronunciation. I learned many excellent techniques for teaching pronunciation such as choral drilling, mnemonics and gestures to help students improve pronunciation. I have incorporated many of these techniques into my university pronunciation classes to make them effective and memorable.

Teacher Trainer, Xuelite Profession Language School. (October 2012 – Present)

At Xuelite, I am in charge of creating the curriculum for students and training foreign and Chinese teachers in order to maintain a high standard of teaching. Therefore I have a good understanding of how to create long term teaching plans for students so they can learn relevant and useful English while avoiding repetitiveness in the curriculum. I also understand what makes a great teacher and am active in training teachers for Chinese students.

Oral English Teacher, Henan Agricultural University. (November 2012 – Present)

At Henan Agricultural University, I teach majors such as Business English, English, Business Administration, International Marketing, Human Resources and Accounting. Class sizes range from 50 – 80 students. My job involves creating a curriculum for my students, assessing students and helping my students reach their potential. At Henan Agricultural University, I have been highly effective in ensuring students attend class, complete assignments and enjoy speaking and using their English. Due to this my students performance and behaviour during class has improved vastly since I started work at Henan Agricultural University.

Business English Teacher, Calsonic Kansei. (May 2013 – February 2014)

I taught Business English to staff members of Calsonic Kansei's Zhengzhou branch office. It was my responsibility to ensure that staff members tasked with communicating with English speaking clients and contacts, and could do so without misunderstandings. 

Education:

·         Advanced 120 hour TEFL certificate

During my TEFL course I studied advanced teaching methods and theory as well as student psychology and classroom dynamics. I also studied how to teach professional topics such as BEC, IELTS and TOEFL. I believe studying teaching theory has helped me to become a more effective teacher.

·         BA in Politics, First Class Honours

I spent three years studying at Swansea University, eventually achieving a first class honours degree majoring in Politics with a minor in Economics. During my time at university I gave many presentations, authored a report on government spending for the former Welsh Finance Minister as well as learning how to effectively work with and lead a team.

·         3 A-Levels grades A – C (Politics, Geography and Economics)

·         10 GCSE's grades A* – C (Achieving A grade in Maths, Science Double Award and English.
