ACHIEVEMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS
Grammar and vocabulary: Created class activities which made English grammar clear and accessible to students in a range of grade levels and varied abilities. Regularly introduced and reinforced learning of new vocabulary through class activities.
Reading comprehension and pronunciation: Students developed skills in comprehension of texts and vocabulary through regular activities focusing on building students’ abilities to recognise and summarise the meanings of key terms and the main ideas of texts in their own words. Students developed writing skills and creativity through scaffolded story-writing tasks. Students improved pronunciation and intonation by comparing sounds in the English alphabet with phonetic examples from their native language.
Lesson planning: Created a reward-based behaviour management system which allowed students to keep track of their achievements. Lesson plans involved engaging activities including games, partner and group work, and ITC tasks to keep students interested, increase students’ ITC, to promote the desire to participate and improve, and consistent feedback was given in lessons and on homework assignments.
Meeting with parents: Maintained ongoing communication with parents through meetings, phone calls, and emails to keep parents updated on their children’s progress and build strong parent-teacher relationships.
Extracurricular activities: Actively participated in excursions and events outside of the regular school schedule that resulted in students improving their social skills and cultural curiosity.
