Assrooh (Education) - Dammam, Saudi Arabia                    2014 - 2015      

English Teacher

Just completed over a year teaching to university students in Saudi Arabia.  The majority of this period was spent in a government university while the latter period was spent at the Institute of Public Administration.  

Canadian Education Center - Iraq / Kurdistan                     2013 - 2014

English Teacher

Taught English to engineers and technicians at Duhok Gas Power Station for eight months.  Delivered instruction at the plant and lived on site in container accommodation.  Subsequently taught management and English language at the Canadian Education Center in Erbil.

Hunan First Normal University – China                         2012 – 2013

English Teacher

Delivered English classes to students majoring in the language.  Fully engaged in the classes and took part in the university organized activities to encourage the students and develop their spoken English.  At all levels, there was a noticeable improvement and confidence in the students’ performance.

Securewest International – Gulf of Aden / East Africa              2008 – 2012

Security Operative / Assessment Officer

Deployed as part of a dedicated team to ensure the safety of merchant ships as they transited the Gulf of Aden.  Answering directly to the Captain of a ship, the team prepared the vessel, briefed the multinational crew and provided coordination with military assets to ensure safe passage.  In addition, the team also secured the vessel and its cargo while in port at stops in East Africa and Aden.

Erinys Security - Central Iraq                                  2007

Personal Security Detail

Member of a team dedicated to ensuring the safe conduct of senior members of The US Army Corps of Engineers.  The principals were successfully escorted and protected throughout the Central Region as they carried out their mission in a hostile environment. 

Decade Corporation – Gaza Strip                             2006 - 2007

Security Officer

Prepared for and spent six months living and working in the Gaza Strip.  Tasked with carrying out a security assessment, an ongoing evaluation and establishing procedures for Swedish engineers.  The engineers were to carry out maintenance work on the power station.  The concept planning and analysis was completed by combining information from NGOs, existing civil and military authorities and assessments from indigenous sources.  This included the Office of the President and the Chief of Police. 

Decade Firearms – UK                                        2005 – 2006

Firearms Officer

Worked for a firearms dealer in Hampshire.  Gained clearance from the Home Office to handle, transport and store prohibited Section Five (Automatic) firearms under the Firearms Act 1968. 

Hart Group Security – Baghdad, Iraq                      2005

Personal Security Detail

Deployed as part of a team to provide security to international engineers who were integral to the effort to provide civil engineering structures to various parts of Baghdad. 

Royal Irish Regiment – Northern Ireland                      1997 - 2004

Platoon Commander

The Battalion’s primary function was to ensure internal security along the South West border region of the Northern Ireland.  Duties included training, framework patrols, intelligence gathering, VIP protection, watchkeeping and base commander.  Being a base commander involved complete accountability for a multi-million pound heavily defended forward operations base and the associated tactical area of responsibility.   Fully engaged in all aspects of the battalion’s life and work, took a team to the Nijmegen March, was Captain of the shooting team and supported the Officers’ Mess when not on operational duty.

Western Education and Library Board – Northern Ireland         1995 - 1996

Lecturer

Delivered management lectures on various courses up to and including HND level.  Was the youngest appointed lecturer in the Province.
