Responsibilities / Tasks

As an ESL teacher in China I am responsible for carrying out lessons to the best of my ability in order to most effectively teach the English language to students. 

I teach Grade four and five students with up to 55 students per class. The main objective is to give oral lessons which will improve the students’ speaking ability 

as much as possible and keep control of a class of 50 students. Other responsibilities include English lessons for fellow teachers, producing and submitting lesson plans each week, 

conducting and grading speaking tests and taking part in many extra-curricular activities with students and teachers. 

Key achievements:

     Producing lessons each week to the highest standard.

     Carrying out fun and interactive lesson ensuring the students learn spoken English to the best of their                  ability.

     Running a monthly ‘English Corner’ for the Chinese-English teachers.

     Sharing successful games and lesson ideas with other teachers.

     Gaining the highest mark each month from teaching assessments. 

     Teaching 18 lessons a week and keeping control of class sizes of 50.

Responsibilities / Tasks

After settling in China I began to pick up more work as a private English tutor. This involves one to one lessons or lessons with very small classes. This is a more intimate way of teaching. 

My responsibilities include teaching reading, 

writing and speaking to new learners, producing a fun way of learning, and forming strong relationships with students in order to maintain effective learning and enthusiasm. 

Key achievements:

     Being personally asked to teach children by outsider recommendation 

     Forming personal relationships with each student I teach

     Making fun and interactive lessons for children as young as five.
