Gap Year: September 2014 – August 2015
· I organised work, accommodation and travel to spend a gap year in Shenzhen, China
· Worked as a primary school English teacher, secondary school English Literature teacher, singing teacher, college councillor and Physical Education teacher

· During my tenure I had to work twice as hard as my colleagues to maintain credibility as an unqualified teacher
· I learnt the importance of professionalism, in conduct and presentation and the necessity for producing a consistently high quality of work

· Appointed as an ESL teacher and a Physical Education teacher in the International Section of Shenzhen Meizhong Chinaus School

· Because I taught without a set curriculum or Chinese assistant, the role taught me to think on my feet in order to overcome language barriers through other forms of communication, and to learn the importance of planning and dovetailing everything in order to make it easy to understand as possible
· In this role I had to utilise my TEFL training which aided my understanding of the application of training in the work place

· Organised private lessons for SAT, ESL and English Literature
· Taught 1 – 2 hour lessons to students and liaised with parents

· Cold-calling a large number of people helped me to develop strong interpersonal skills, as engaging the call recipient within the first eight seconds was crucial to securing a donation
· On three separate occasions, I was able to convert the most phone calls, securing funds pledged to the school of £12,665
Charity Concert Organiser: Spring 2014
· With friends, I organised a charity concert at my school
· I performed and presented the concert in aid of the charity Toilet Twinning, ‘an organisation that provides sanitation to deprived areas’, raising over £800
· Organising this concert while undertaking my schoolwork required me to develop time-management skills in order to balance the logistics of organising this event with preparing for my IB exams
· I was responsible for organising and ensuring the deliverance of catering, the performance space, programme, advertising, running order as well as overseeing all technical aspects
Theatre: 2007 - Present
· Acting: Performed as Tony (West Side Story); Iago (Othello); Frederic (Pirates of Penzance); Ugly (HONK!); Peter (Train Leaving Platform 4); Ham (Noyye’s Fludde); and Richard Dauntless (Ruddigore)
