I am applying for a teaching opportunity as an Educational Ambassador. The political, economic and educational relationship between United States and China is inevitable. As our countries continue to prosper globally, it is fundamental that our future generations avoid cultural and language barriers. To do so, we must provide them with educational resources at an early stage in life in order for our students to be more successful. With my experiences as a mentor and policy analyst, I plan to assist in educating students by providing them with the necessary communication skills that will generate long lasting-relationships between countries.





外教的教育经历

I am a graduate student from Arizona State University (ASU). In May, 2015, I graduated with a degree in Public Service & Public Policy and a concentration in Criminology. During my university education I established necessary skills needed to strive in the workforce. I maintained a GPA of 3.96 while doing numerous volunteer service hours.  As a mentor I was highly committed in providing the best service. All which prepared me to teach in at Lvliang University for the 2015-2016 academic year.  Through a collective effort and adaptation of culture, I overcame barriers and met the schools goal to increase the students’ Oral English level.

 

As an Oral English Teacher at Lvliang University, I organized lesson plans that varied from impromptu speaking to group discussions on contemporary social issues. These teaching lessons required the students to challenge themselves and increase their speaking abilities. The students listening was also required to improve. The first month of teaching I spoke slowly in English, but as students got use to the idea of having a foreigner teacher I began speaking at a normal speed. Thus, students listening has progressed to the point they can carry day-to-day conversations with an English native speaker; without the other person needing to slow down. Besides my Oral English classes, I was expected to organize and coordinate English Corner activities regarding American Culture.  This gave students from the English Department and non-English majors time to interact with me. Overall, my diverse background and willingness to interact with others has been an asset in dealing with objection while maintaining a sense of calm; in the end, it has helped me appeal to my school leaders and most importantly the students. I have learned to fuse Western teaching style with Chinese teaching to deliver the most effective education.
