English Teacher—Shane English, Shanghai, PRC, August 2015—present

-Taught English full-time for Shane English at a primary school in Changning. 

-Responsible for planning and teaching lessons for grades 2 through 5. 

News Reporter—The Daily Texan, Austin, TX, USA, August 2013—February 2014

-Interviewed UT students and faculty about recent developments on campus and wrote several articles per week for the university’s daily student-run newspaper. 

Community Organizer—Texas Campaign for the Environment, Austin, TX, August– November 2012

-Traveled to different neighborhoods around the city of Austin and knocked on doors to enlist the support of citizens who are concerned about environmental issues. 

-Raised thousands of dollars for lobbying efforts and recruited countless citizens for our petition and letter campaigns. 

Extracurricular Activities

Groundskeeper—UT Inter-Cooperative Council (ICC),  Austin, TX, January 2014-May 2015

-Elected by the members of my student organization to maintain our beautiful garden.

-Our garden produced an abundance of vegetables and herbs for cooking. We used the fresh produce to cook vegan food for the city’s homeless population. 

-The native Texas flowers in our garden attracted butterflies, honeybees, and hummingbirds. We hosted educational activities here once a month in order to demonstrate the importance of preserving our environment to local children. 

Student Teacher—UTeach Liberal Arts, Austin, TX, January—December 2013 

-As a college student I planned and taught lessons for a class of public school students once a week. The guidance of a mentor teacher helped me develop as an educator.
