Teacher – English First School in Dongying, China: October 2016 – Present

The role involves delivering the English First’s teaching material to kindergarten and primary school students and doing so in a professional but friendly manner. As well as teaching, the role includes elements of behaviour management in the classroom. I am also expected to help maintain English First’s high standards of student’s academic growth and parental satisfaction.  

Kitchen Porter – Rockfish Plymouth: March 2016 – September 2016

As the main kitchen porter at Rockfish, the role involves keeping the kitchen appliances to a suitable standard of hygiene and ensuring the other kitchen porters are also suitably trained to do so. As well as regular deep cleaning, other responsibilities involve food preparation and keeping tableware in a rotation in a fast paced manner to keep up with demands.

Hospital Porter – Derriford Hospital: August 2015 – March 2016

The role primarily involves transferring patients to different wards based on what treatment they require. Other responsibilities include delivering laundry, handling medical gases, helping the security staff and transferring medication, specimen samples, and files.  

Front of House Staff – The Waterfront: April 2015 – June 2015

The role involved table waiting and bar work in a very popular location in the Plymouth area. The bar work involved serving customers, stock take, cleaning and taking food orders. And table waiting involved providing thorough and enthusiastic service to customers in a busy and fast paced environment.

Front of House Staff – Duke of Cornwall Hotel:  October 2012 - July 2014

The role involved table waiting and bar work in the hotel function rooms and lounge bar. The most common functions were weddings, military socials, proms, and football team presentations. These functions varied in size, sometimes catering for up to 300 people and I occasionally supervised smaller functions by myself. Responsibilities included table waiting, changing barrels, stock take, serving coffee, glass collection, and silver service.

Kitchen Porter – Café Curva: June 2012 - October 2012

The role generally involved maintaining a suitable level of hygiene in the kitchen by keeping the kitchen floor, surfaces and utensils clean. The work was highly intense as the café was located in the Drake Circus mall in central Plymouth. Other responsibilities included preparation of meals, stock take, and purchasing supplies.

Final Year Project (Dissertation):

·         Husbandry Training at the National Marine Aquarium: adapted the visual target training of three nurse sharks to improve their quality of husbandry care. The new training procedure has since been used by the aquarium staff to increase efficiency and wellbeing of the sharks.
