Feb 2016 China University of Petroleum (Qingdao) Tittle: English Teacher

I am in charge of the I.E.L.T.S Oral English department for students at this university. Some of the students that I am in charge of have previously taken the I.E.L.T.S. oral exam and have failed to successfully gain entrance into a university overseas of their choice. I therefore, have the special responsibility to ensure through my classes that, the I.E.L.T.S. oral English scores are improved substantially.

I also teach oral English to undergraduate and post graduate non-English and English major students. My focus is on them developing confidence in speaking and developing a good accent. This is done through debating, role plays in groups of 3-4 students and group discussions with 4-5 students. I also organise a special class in the evening for those students wishing to study overseas who are unable to attend English classes during the day due to their class schedule. In this class I organise students into groups and given them an assignment / project to complete within 1 hour 40 minutes time period. They have to give their designated project a name, where they will choose to have their factory, the initial cost of beginning this project, how they will market and sell their product and the benefits to customers who purchase their product. This activity aims to develop teamwork and also helps to develop leadership qualities. Both of which are valued when studying or working in the west.

I also teach English Reading and English Writing classes. The focus of these classes is to improve their grammar and basic writing abilities to ensure success whislst studying abroad. Writing is a very important skill to have, especially whilst studying abroad as most of the work is essay  and report writing.

Mar 2015 -Feb 2016  Meten English    Tittle: English Teacher
I taught students that ranged from a variety of English language proficiency levels from elementary to advanced English language levels. I taught them English, from a set curriculum from the Meten English books. I also organised an Ishow ( English Corner ) three to four times a week. I also designed and I taught a Practical Business English course to the students. This course was designed for those who sought advancement in their current careers or for students who had just graduated from university and needed to know how to successfully apply and obtain a placement in an organisation. 

Mar 2014 – Jan 2015   Nanjing Medical University    Tittle: English Teacher 

I was a lecturer in Medical English, at Nanjing Medical  University for the Youth Olympics Program 2014, Young Medical Experts Program (doctors that will begin work in USA or England for a period of three months) and Post Graduate medical students. Western Culture Classes in English for all university students and Oral English classes for 4th Year Bio-Medical Students.  I was the leader of English Corners at Wutai and Jainning Campuses, Nanjing Medical University. I specialised in speech production in all my English classes and medical terminology and patient -doctor relationship in my Medical English classes.
I also did proof reading of Medical articles for publication together with proof reading of articles to be posted on the university website.
My role also included being responsible for developing the native English teachers’ existing TESOL teaching skills to enhance their performance at work. This was done through forthnightly workshops and assignments.

2004  May – July    Tittle: Volunteer ( no payment received)
For a period of three months I have taught English to a housewife. I helped her with pronunciation and sentence construction to speak English fluently. She required practice speaking English for her upcoming trip to America. No grammar was taught. This was done on a voluntary basis.

Publishing
 2012 March – August  Swinburne University of Technology (Melbourne, Australia)  Tittle: VTAC Project Officer
I worked at Swinburne University as the VTAC Project Officer. I was in charge of publishing of all the University Courses that Swinburne University offered to Year 12 students. The outcome from this position was further enhancement of my English written skills that has enhanced my capabilities as an English Teacher. English language skills such as spelling, punctuation, syntax and grammar will greatly assist me in gaining competency as an English teacher to students who are non-native speakers.

2009- 2004          Tittle : Chef  De Partie
I worked as a chef in a fine dining restaurant where I was the head of the department. I supervised and trained staff in cooking and food health and safety standards.  I also ordered all food and planned the menus for the week.
