Academic Research In the third and final year of my degree I completed a yearlong group research project. The research pertained to psychology, with the research project being grounded in the theory of current psychological literature. The research involved empirical testing of several dozen participants through multiple tests, complete with computerised data analysis.

Academic Research My honours thesis examined the impact China had upon development in Angola and Sudan between 2000 and 2010. This subject was analysed by looking at how China influenced GDP growth, employment, infrastructure and poverty in these two countries. The thesis contended that China was a positive for development in Angola and Sudan, all things considered. The four indicators showed that China had a complicated impact on development in Angola and Sudan between 2000 and 2010, with robust GDP growth and a boom in infrastructure (largely due to natural resource for infrastructure deals) taking place in both countries. However, at the same time both countries also witnessed unemployment and poverty levels remain high and in some cases increase over the examined period. Overall, the evidence supported the contention that development prospects in Angola and Sudan were better in 2010 than they were in 2000 because both countries deepened relations with China. Yet there is still room for improvement, with China not being a ‘silver bullet’ for development in these two countries, as the people at large in Angola and Sudan did not experience consistent development gains over the 2000 to 2010 period.
