November - Present: I have travelled through Cambodia, Laos and into Vietnam.

September 2016 – October 2017: I finished teaching at Fuyuan British American International School (formerly known as FEC–Fuyuan Education Centre) in Shenzhen, China in October. I taught around 160 students in seven classes with ages ranging from 14 to 18 and A2 to C1 in level, based on the CEFR. We prepared the older students exclusively for IELTS to place them in universities abroad and taught Cambridge IGCSE for the lower year students. I also used American Literature for the younger students who are heading for the States. While we argued for effective placement, the school had their system so challenging classes  were handled methodologically.

 We used IELTS and Cambridge materials and Glencoe literature books, courses 8 & 10. I also cooked 128 daily lunches for the western staff which was no small feat but which created great camaraderie and team spirit. I also organised the teacher's nights out at the weekends as there was nothing going on when I arrived and I became something of a proactive team leader!

April 2016 - September 2016. I travelled through Nepal, Turkey and 25 central European countries.

October 2015 - April 2016: I was a Business English Trainer for LADO Management Consultants in Taipei, Taiwan, teaching exclusively Business English and ESP to Fortune 500 companies. Adults ranged from Beginner to Advanced, CEFR A1-C2. Market Leader, Intelligent Business, Collins English for Business Listening, High-impact Presentations and The English Language of Meetings materials were used.

July 2015 – October 2015: Flew back to Indonesia and travelled further through this beloved country.

May 2015 – July 2015: I was employed by Middlesex University in Beijing training students in the fine art of using Academic English. The three months of intensive teaching were to prepare them for university life in England. Middlesex University materials were used.

July 2014 - May 2015: Returned to Indonesia.

October 2013 - July 2014: English Teacher at inlingua La Rioja, Spain. We prepared students for Cambridge English PET, FCE, CAE and CPE exams, teaching Business English and other duties. My students ranged in age from 14 and up, representing CEFR levels A2-C2. Cambridge University, face2faceand inlingua's Business Modules were taught and tailored to the students' needs for personalised courses at management level.

July 2013 - October 2013: Returned to Indonesia.

August 2012 - July 2013:  I was employed by ICEAT as an EAP Teacher in the preparatory year program at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Students were between 17 and 23 years of age and ranged from A1 to B2 in the CEFR (although the majority were A1-A2). Headway and Q-Skills were used. This  was a very challenging year and proof that I am culturally sensitive and I always complete my contract as hordes of foreign staff left or were fired. Placement was also a cultural difficulty.

May 2012 - August 2012: I relocated to Indonesia, taking in large parts of Asia on the way.

Jan 2010 - May 2012:  English Teacher at inlingua Regensburg, Germany. I specialised in teaching Business English/ESP and I taught all positions within a business hierarchy from teenage apprentices to directors. The ages ranged from 15 and up. Former East German engineers represented A0 and the upper echelon were mostly C1-C2. inlingua’s Business English books were taught and various modules were tailored for specialist students.

Sept. 2007 - Oct 2009:   Manager of Ian's Beads, based in Indonesia. I was in charge of exporting glass beads from Java to boutiques in Europe.

Aug. 2004 - Aug. 2007: Travelling. I have been around the world twice visiting 79 countries to date.

May 1999 - July 2004: Fuerteventura land development. I ran a business with my brother resolving complex issues with Canarian bureaucracy, living on and developing farmland and other property.

January 1999 - April 1999: Quo Vadis Bar, Arinsal, Andorra. I worked as security/ PR, which involved promotional tasks and crowd control.

January 1995 - December 1998: The Admirable Crichton. Waiter, Chef and Porter. I covered almost all the jobs required in the finest catering company in England, including working solo at a private party for Tom Cruise and making sandwiches for the Queen!

June - December 1994: Bella Pasta, Exeter branch. Head Chef . I was responsible for preparing and cooking for a large restaurant.

October 1991 - June 1994: University of Exeter. I worked as Event Security and Event Crew. We built and took down stage sets and performed crowd control duties during the concert in front of the stage.

1985 - 1990: Sponsored Windsurfing Rider. I was a semi-professional representative around Europe.

1980-1985:                   Sherborne Preparatory School (C.E.).

1985-1990:                   Sherborne School for Boys: 10 G.C.S.E. qualifications.
                                      3 A-levels: Art (A), Theology (A), Mathematics (N).

1991- 1994:                  University of Exeter: Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in                                                                                 Theological Studies with Philosophy.

Dec. 2006:                    TEFL Plus Phuket: TEFL qualification (A).

Teaching philosophy:   I would aim to teach English in a natural and communicative way using the direct method.
