Previous Teaching History:

September 2003 to July 2006:       Suihua University, Heilongjiang

Teaching English majors (age 18 – 23) spoken English using a combination of text books and self designed course materials. Some movies and music classes were taught and a weekly English corner. The four year English majors were studying for TEM4.

January 2005 to August 2006:      Joy English School, Suihua,  Heilongjiang

This was a part time evening and weekend position while teaching at Suihua University. The students were between 3 and 16 years old in different classes. The teaching material was based on a set curriculum and teaching materials designed in Taiwan.

September 2006 to July 2008:       Inner  Mongolia Agricultural University

Full time teaching at a public university in Hohhot  City. A combination of spoken English and writing classes delivered to post graduates (Masters and Doctor students) and undergraduates (English majors and non majors). The post graduate students were studying for CET6 examinations and the undergraduates, either TESOL or TEM4. The course material was self designed.

December 2006 to July 2008:       Royal English School, Hohhot

Part time weekend classes taught at a private kindergarten. The students were typically 3 to 10 years old. Much of the course material was self designed and agreed with the school owners. Typically, it included the use of picture flashcards and a number of games or other activities.

September 2008 to July 2010:        Shandong University of Science & Technology

Full time teaching at a university situated in Qingdao Technical and Development Zone. The students were post graduate science students studying for CET6. The course content was a combination of spoken and writing English classes designed by myself. Often this would include the use of multi media equipment, powerpoint presentations or printed handouts. The student appraisal was very high and included the award of “Special Teacher in our Hearts”.

February 2016 to July 2016:        Beijing Institute of Hospitality

A one semester contract at a leading hospitality and hotel management college teaching first year students a combination of oral and tourism related English. All feedback from the college was very positive and several of the students and teaching colleagues still regularly contact me by means of WeChat. A very positive experience all round.

October 2016 to July 2017:   Huzhou Vocational and Technical College

Full time teaching at a vocational college located in the north of Zhejiang Province. The students were a combination of Business English majors, International Trade majors and some non English majors. Courses included oral English, English pronunciation skills, and Personal Development Skills. Feedback from colleagues and students was consistently high.

2010 to Present: Qingdao KTech Food Consultancy Co., Ltd.

Self employed providing a range of food and non food consultancy, training etc., within companies. I also spent a period of time teaching English at the China Sinopec Petroleum Institute near Wuhan in Hubei Province and teaching International Trade in Changzhou.

Language Skills:        Reasonably fluent in mandarin Chinese with recognition of more than 2000 characters.
